Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton have a new international boss, with Carlo Ancelotti taking the Brazil job.

Dorival Junior was sacked in late March 2025 after only 14 months in the job.

That followed a 4-1 World Cup qualifying group defeat to Argentina.

Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid after their final match of the season on Sunday 25 May at home to Real Sociedad in La Liga.

He had one year left on his contract at the Spanish club but agreement has been reached between Brazil and Real Madrid to end that 12 months early.

Carlo Ancelotti then has his first match in charge of Brazil only 12 days after leaving Real Madrid.

Brazil have four games left in the South Amrican World Cup qualifying group for the 2026 finals.

Brazil play away against Ecuador on June 6 and then at home to Paraguay on 11 June. Before in September it is home to Chile and away against Bolivia.

As you can see with four games left to play, Brazil are fourth top with 21 points.

With the top six automatically qualifying, Brazil closing in on qualification.

The team that finishes seventh in the table goes into a play-off for a spot in the World Cup finals.
