On Wednesday, Brighton and Hove Albion announced they acquired Joël Veltman from Ajax for a stunning amount of under £1m.
The 28-year-old has always dreamt of a Premier League move and decided the time was right after eight years in the Ajax first-team.
“For me, it was time to go for a new experience,” said Veltman.
“I spoke to Edwin van der Sar, a director at Ajax, and he told me the rhythm of games is amazing and very high.
“I’m used to that in the Champions League and it will be different having that all the time in the Premier League.”
The 22-time Dutch international made a total of 246 first-team appearances for Ajax, scoring 10 goals and assisting on 15 others.
