Nottingham Forest are preparing for next season, with planning well underway for the forthcoming 2021/22 campaign.

Chris Hughton will be keen to rebuild his squad this summer, after watching his side finish 17th in the Championship in what was a disappointing campaign.

With five loan players returning to their parent clubs, the club also made the decision not to extend any of the seven out-of-contract players’ deals at the end of the season.

Among those leaving is Yuri Ribeiro, who leaves the City Ground after a mixed two-year spell in the East Midlands.

Ribeiro joined from Benfica last season and was a regular feature under Sabri Lamouchi, playing a key part for the Reds last season.

This season, he has been unable to replicate the form he displayed under Lamouchi for Hughton’s side, but still leaves the City Ground with plenty of well wishes.

Joe Lolley has now took to Instagram to wish Ribeiro well, as the left-back looks to take on the next step in his career.

The Verdict

Ribeiro has endured a frustrating season.

He has been in and out of the team, competing with the likes of Tyler Blackett and Gaetan Bong, and Hughton has been unable to stick to one option at left-back.

Ribeiro can switch off defensively far too often for my liking, and I definitely expect Hughton to go in the market for a new left-back this summer.

But every Forest fan will wish Ribeiro well, as his attitude could never be questioned in a Red shirt.
