Joe Hart has been slammed by football fans on social media who have accused the Celtic goalkeeper of faking an injury during Saturday’s Scottish Premiership clash against Motherwell.
The former England No. 1 had people inside Celtic Park concerned when he went down on his back with his arms stretched out.
A couple of Hart’s teammates rushed over to the 35-year-old, while medical staff raced onto the pitch to treat him.
Motherwell midfielder Barry Maguire, however, was seen gesturing at the goalkeeper to get up. He seemed to feel that the experienced ‘keeper was faking it.
Hart sustained the apparent injury after knocking into Sondre Solholm Johansen when the scores were level at 1-1.
Johansen was left rubbing his head after Hart caught him with an arm while attempting to gather the ball, which fell to Kevin van Veen on the edge of the box.
Hart rose to his feet but was left flat on his back moments later after his head went into Solholm’s side.
Did Hart go to ground theatrically? Was it a cynical attempt to win a free-kick after failing to catch the ball? Or was he genuinely hurt by what appeared to be a fairly light coming together?

It’s easy to see why some are sceptical that Hart was injured.
Let’s check out some of the reaction on social media:
Per the Daily Record, Hart was seen having a ‘heated discussion’ with referee John Beaton after he was deemed fit to play on by Celtic’s medical team.
Due to the potential consequences that concussions can have, head injuries have to be taken extremely seriously by match officials.
Therefore, players are aware that faking a head injury is unacceptable – though that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen from time to time.
Hart went on to complete the match as Celtic registered a 2-1 victory, keeping them two points above Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Reo Hatate’s 64th-minute goal was enough to earn Celtic their seventh league win of the campaign.
Hart has rediscovered his love for the game in Scotland following his departure from Tottenham in 2021.
Following a whirlwind few years after being dumped by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in 2016, Hart now appears to happy again and managed to win the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup during his debut season at Celtic Park.
