The Egyptian had a head start on both players, who joined their new clubs with the new campaign already underway, but that doesn’t chance the fact he’s been in incredible form heading into the weekend clash between the two rival clubs at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo and Lukaku – both on three goals apiece — have some catching up to do if they are to deny Salah a third Golden Boot award.
Cole still expects it will be Ronaldo and Lukaku battling it out for the accolade at this term, just like they did in the Serie A, with the Portuguese superstar coming out on top.
Asked whether Lukaku will outscore Ronaldo, the former Chelsea and Liverpool man said (via The Mirror): “I think it could be either of them. I think they will be the number one and number two.”
Cole added: “Out of them two I think it’ll be the one who doesn’t pick up an injury. I think they will consistently score goals throughout, and they’ll be neck and neck.”
In order for Ronaldo to score the goals we know he can, United must improve on their performances in the coming weeks if they are win against their upcoming opponents.
