This was the result after an initial examination whilst be on international duty with the Portuguese national team.
Palhinha is now at risk of missing some important fixtures for Bayern which include their Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, a Bundesliga fixture against Borussia Dortmund and a DFB Pokal fixture against Bayer Leverkusen.
The 29-year-old will now leave the national team and will miss out on their Nations League matches against Poland and Croatia.
Leon Goretzka may be given the chance to replace Palhinha for the upcoming fixtures after struggling for playing time so far this season.
Goretzka has made just five appearances in the Bundesliga this season and is yet to complete a full 90 minute match under Vincent Kompany.
