Joao Gamboa returns to Estoril just months after joining OH Leuven | OneFootball

OH Leuven have announced that 26 year-old Portuguese midfielder has re-joined Estoril on loan, just months after joining the Belgian side. Gamboa had been with Estoril for two seasons before leaving Portugal to join Marc Brys side. The former Portuguese youth international only managed four appearances in the Belgian Pro League.

It is likely that OH Leuven will now be looking to bring in midfield reinforcements during the January transfer window. Under Brys, who is in his third season with the club, OH Leuven are 8th in the table, occupying the final play-off spot. Despite a strong start to the season, the side have only won one of their previous five matches. However, this did include a late draw with Club Brugge which saw the end of Carl Hoefkens time in charge. Club are now looking for a new manager, with names such as Scott Parker being linked with the vacancy.

OH Leuven first game of 2023 will be against Kortrijk, a side who knocked them out of the domestic cup on the 20th of December.
