Joao Felix has revealed what Enzo Maresca instructed him to do after he made his debut for the Blues in Sunday’s win against Wolves.

Chelsea ran out emphatic 6-2 winners to record their first victory at Molineux since 2019 with Felix scoring after coming on as a second half substitute.

The attacking quality the Blues possess is enough to give any defence in the league problems and they showed how devastating they can be against Wolves.

With the options available Enzo Maresca has a headache on his hands when it comes to picking who should start, which is a great problem to have.

The Blues may still add a striker to their ranks whilst they have boosted their attacking options with the arrivals of Felix and Pedro Neto.

Felix returned to Chelsea having spent time on loan during the 2022/2023 season with the club paying £44.5m to Atletico Madrid for the 24-year-old.

Felix joined Chelsea for £44.5m from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.

The Portugal international started the game on the bench but came on in the second half and scored with a brilliant finish from Neto’s cutback.

Felix revealed after the game what Maresca instructed him to do when he came on and that the Italian gives him confidence.

“The manager gives me confidence,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“I played as a forward against Wolves, he told me to find spaces in the right pocket and to link up with Cole and Christo. We have a lot of attacking options and it’s exciting to be part of it.

“Wherever the manager wants me to play in those attacking areas, I’m happy. I just want to help the team and this win was the perfect start [to life at Chelsea].”

It was certainly a great start for Felix and fans will be excited to see more of what the Portuguese can do and he could find himself in the starting line-up for Thursday’s trip to Servette in the Europa Conference League.
