Rojiblancos were not ready to sell at first, but their stance is now changing. They know the Felix case is complicated, but they want to resolve it.

Since his arrival, Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has not trusted him. He came to replace Antoine Greizmann, but the Argentine manager did not bequeath Felix the faith he had in the French international.

Felix’s relationship with the fans has also gone sour. He is their record expenditure and has come nowhere near paying the 126 million the club paid to sign him from Benfica.

The authorities of the club are wary of issues becoming more toxic and disturbing the harmony of the group. There are already rumblings within the squad with the players and the team underperforming.

The 23-year-old Felix has also struggled with injuries, and they blighted his consistency.

Simeone preferred Marcos Llorente and Angel Correa to play as his second striker. Simeone prefers them for their defensive abilities. However, when Felix got chances, sections accused him of not taking them.

Simeone brought Antoine Griezmann back to the club this summer after a poor spell at Barcelona. The former Real Sociedad man is already ahead of Felix in the pecking order.

Felix has only started five La Liga games this season. He has three goals and three assists in 13 appearances.

Atletico Madrid will hope that Felix has a strong 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign with Portugal. A good showing will help the club recoup some of the hefty fees they paid.

Despite not playing particularly well, Felix managed to grab a goal against Ghana in their Group H opener. He finished a brilliant pass from Bruno Fernandes to double his side’s lead in the 3-2 victory.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are two top clubs interested in the player.
