Barcelona have taken a first-half lead against Atlético de Madrid in a bid to close the gap at the top of LaLiga, and it had to be João Félix who grabbed the goal.

The Portuguese forward is on loan at the Camp Nou from Atleti, and has had several public fallouts with Diego Simeone at the Wanda Metropolitano since his €119m arrival in 2018.

That led to him being sent out on loan to Chelsea last season and then to Barcelona this time around.

Starting against his parent side for Barca’s trip to the capital, Atleti fans were spotted burning his shirts before the game, but Félix decided to do his talking on the pitch.

The Portuguese attacker turned in the opening goal of the game against the run of play, reacting fastest to a Lewandowski cutback to grab his fifth goal of the campaign.

It will do little to endear him to the Atleti fans.
