João Cancelo looked right at home on his debut as Bayern Munich beat Mainz 4-0 in the DFB Pokal last 16.

Cancelo made his debut at left-back just one day after signing from Manchester City as Bayern named something approaching their strongest XI here.

And it was Cancelo who was immediately playing his part as the Portugal international crossed for Choupo-Moting to volley in.

Bayern then doubled their advantage on the half hour mark as Jamal Musiala found some space inside the area and rifled an effort into the far corner.

The visitors were almost complete dominant now and added a third on the stroke of half time as Leroy Sané struck home to put the game out of sight.

Into the second half and late on it it was 4-0 as Alphonso Davies bagged for his first since the World Cup.

The home side then went down to 10 men as Alexander Hack was given a second yellow card.
