Barcelona go into their final UEFA Champions League group game against Bayern Munich knowing that a win is needed to go through to the knockout stages, irrespective of what happens in other group game between Benfica and Dynamo Kyiv.

With seven points from five games, the Catalans have a two-point lead over Benfica in third. Should the Portuguese club beat Dynamo in their final game and Barca fail to grab a win at the Allianz Arena, they will end up playing in the UEFA Europa League.

But going to Bavaria and returning with a victory is a daunting challenge for any team, considering the form that Julian Nagelsmann’s team have been in. Barca were on the receiving end of a 3-0 hammering earlier in the season at the hands of the German champions.

Naturally, there are nerves among the fans about the club’s chances. However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is very confident that the team will be able to pull off a ‘miracle’ win against Bayern Munich and advance to the Last-16 stages.

Speaking at the premiere of a play at the Teatre Borràs (h/t Diario AS), Laporta said: “Beating Bayern is something that can be achieved. There is going to be a miracle, I am convinced that we are going to win ”

The Barcelona supremo added that the appointment of Xavi Hernandez as the manager made him even more confident of the team’s chances. “Xavi is very motivated and strong. I hope everything goes well for us, I think that at the moment Xavi’s arrival has generated a little respect from our opponents. They know we can do it again.”

Laporta also sounded positive about the chances of Ansu Fati being fit in time for the crunch tie against Bayern. The 18-year-old has been sidelined since early November, but recent reports claimed that he wants to be involved in the game even if he is not 100% fit to return.
