Not many people out there know what Hansi Flick can bring to the table quite like Germany boss Joachim Löw.
Flick was Löw’s assistant in the national team from 2006 to 2014. The pair won a World Cup together in addition to accomplishing a third-placed finish at World Cup 2010 and making the Euro 2008 final.
Flick then became Germany’s sporting director following the World Cup triumph and held that role until January 2017.
Due to Flick’s familiarity with the German players, Löw believes that he could be an absolutely perfect fit and isn’t surprised at all by his hot start.
“Hansi can do it,” Low said on Tuesday in Düsseldorf.
“He has so much experience in different areas, great competence and also empathy. Those are the best qualifications.
“Hansi has a clear idea of what he wants to bring to the team. It thus was clear to me that he would have a good start.”
If Flick were to be handed the permanent role, it would be his first full-time managerial position since he managed Hoffenheim from 2000 to 2005.
