Alex Jimenez made his first Serie A start during last night’s draw against Genoa, and he reflected on the emotions after a positive display.
When Zlatan Ibrahimovic declared during the summer that Jimenez would be Theo Hernandez’s deputy, many presumed we would have seen more of the Spaniard than we had up until last night.
Instead the head coach Paulo Fonseca had largely opted to play Filippo Terracciano whenever Theo was unavailable or needed resting, despite the fact Jimenez was doing well for Milan Futuro.
Nonetheless, he got the nod to start over the Frenchman last night and has been praised for his performance, showing a lot of personality at the age of just 19.
Jimenez gave a brief comment to Milan TV at the end of the 90 minutes and he spoke about making his full league debut for the club, with MilanPress relaying his comments.
“An emotion that can’t be explained. I’m happy with my game. I wanted to thank the coach for giving me the confidence to play in a match like this. I’m sorry for the fans given the historic day. I think the only thing missing was the goal. We played a good match in my opinion,” he said.
