Newcastle new boy Jetro Willems has warned fans that it will take him time to get up to speed after being out of action for so long.
The Eintracht Frankfurt loanee has found himself thrust into the first team picture following injury to Matt Ritchie.
That led to him starting two successive games, much to his surprise, with Willems admitting he is still finding his feet.
“It wasn’t perfect from me,” Willems told BBC Newcastle.
“But I created some chances and did my job so that is important for me.
“I played last Wednesday and then again at the weekend so it is quite tough.
“The last time that I played the whole game was, I think, last season.
“So I’m going the right way. Now it is a great time for me to have some rest.”
The Dutchman will enjoy a period of relaxation during the international break, having been left out of Ronald Koeman’s squad.
