On Wednesday, Chivas will make their debut in the 2019 Copa MX tournament when they host Santos Laguna.
The Copa always allows Liga MX sides to rotate and experiment with different lineups and it appears that’s what Tomas Boy plans to do as well.
Early reports suggest that natural right-back Jesús Sánchez will operate on the left side for Wednesday’s match, something the soon-to-be 30-year-old is quite unopposed to.
“I had previously played a different position when Matías (Almeyda) was here. I am not against playing on the left,” Sanchez said Tuesday at a press conference.
Sánchez is still attempting to solidify his place in Tomas Boy’s lineup after making just five appearances since March 2018 due to a knee injury.
El Chapo has already appeared in two of Chivas’ three matches this season and intends on earning a permanent place in Boy’s XI.
“Almost a year and a month of inactivity, it is not easy to return and resume the rhythm I had at that time. But I will always keep trying to earn a place.”
