Jesús Navas signs ‘lifetime contract’ with Sevilla following shocking U-turn | OneFootball

As of yesterday, Jesús Navas was leaving Sevilla. He’d given an emotional statement via the club’s social media and Sevilla had announced a date for his farewell to the fans.

Now, in a shocking turn of events, Navas has re-signed with the club on what has been described as a lifetime contract, meaning he will continue playing until December before transitioning to a non-playing role with the team.

Navas has even gone as far as to declare that the wages from his remaining months as a player will be donated to charity.

As per Diario de Sevilla, all of this comes after Jesús Navas had previously gone public to announce that the club hadn’t contacted him regarding a contract renewal.

Meanwhile, the club stated that the decision had been made long ago, which Navas also denied.

Regardless of how we have gotten to this point, the reality now is that Jesús Navas will continue at Sevilla for the time being, and potentially well into the future away from the pitch.

This type of treatment is truly befitting of a legend of Navas’ stature, however, questions need to be asked about how this type of miscommunication was ever allowed to happen in the professional game.
