Chivas captain Jesús Molina believes there will be nothing “friendly” about the Clásico clash with América in Dallas on Sunday.
With the international break creating a free weekend in the Liga MX calendar, the two sides have agreed to face off at the Cotton Bowl in front of their supporters north of the border.
“It is a very important game for the fans, they play more than pride,” Molina said after training at the Texas venue on Saturday (via TUDN).
“So I think there is nothing for a friendly, but hey, we are going to try to do things very well and be able to win the game because it is always important to win it.”
The Flock have endured a sluggish start to the Apertura campaign, but will be hoping to build some momentum on the back of last weekend’s last-gasp win over Necaxa.
“We like the game very well. We come from two games without losing playing away against Monterrey and getting the tie that was not easy at all and then beating Necaxa,” Molina said.
“So we hope the positive streak will continue and start in the tournament to position ourselves in a good place.”
Chivas currently lie in 11th spot after taking just nine points from their opening seven league games.
