The forward latched onto a mis-placed pass from goalkeeper Adriana Nanclares and advanced into the box before, unselfishly, pulling the ball back to Aggie Beever-Jones to finish from close-range.

The 23-year-old has featured in all Barclays Women’s Super League fixtures this season, particularly impressing in the centre-forward role when called-upon, and she spoke about learning from her fellow teammates and the environment at the Club.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the friendly with Spain, Jess said: “I have been learning a lot from Bethany and Martha up top and with any opportunities I have to come on the pitch, I have tried to make something happen.

“Bethany is a born winner with that mentality to want to win and Martha with her experience in the national team. They are great players on and off the pitch and some brilliant people to learn from.

“The main thing for me as a player and as a forward is that I want to express myself, so I need to be in an environment where I can feel comfortable and free. The environment at Spurs is like one big family and that helps to gel on the pitch and also express yourself as a player.”

Elsewhere, Eveliina Summanen and Olga Ahtinen both featured in Finland’s 4-0 victory over the Philippines in an international friendly on Wednesday afternoon, with the latter captaining the side and earning her 59th cap for the national team.

Olga also provided the assist for their second goal as her corner was headed home by Eva Nyström before being taken off in the 63rd minute, while Eveliina played 45 minutes.
