Drameh won Cardiff City’s Player of the Season award last term, having only joined on loan from the Whites in January, sending a message to his parent club and demonstrating his class at second tier level.

The 21-year-old has only made one Premier League appearance this term, which will have added fuel to rumours that a January exit could be on the cards, but Jesse Marsch took a slightly different approach to speaking about his future.

The Leeds manager provided the following verdict on Drameh when he spoke to LeedsLive.

He said: “Cody has been fantastic over the last month and I’m so happy we have gotten to a point with him where he feels so energised by what we’re doing and engaged.

“Then the decision will be how to continue to push him in the direction for him to be an important player at this club, which he will be.

“Maybe we need to even think about how it fits now.”

Drameh would be an impressive Max Aarons replacement at Norwich if he departs next month, but given Marsch’s comments we may have to wait until the closing exchanges of the window for a final decision to be made on Drameh’s future.

Crystal Palace, out of the five clubs, are probably the one that could guarantee the most game time to someone like Drameh, with Nathan Ferguson still struggling with injury.

Joel Ward has been a great servant for the Eagles and is reliable in the top-flight, but the former Portsmouth defender does limit the attacking output down the right flank a touch.

Drameh’s pathway to becoming first choice at Elland Road does seem blocked for the foreseeable future, and with that in mind, and his contract running out at the end of next season, it would make financial sense to move him on permanently in January, in order to recoup a fee that they can reinvest in other areas.
