Just a few days after being unveiled as the new Canadian Menâs National Team coach, former Leeds United and RB Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch has revealed that he wasnât pleased how he was treated by the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Marsch was a leading candidate for the U.S. Menâs National Team job, a job that eventually was given back to Gregg Berhalter for his second stint as head coach.
But speaking on a podcast this week, Marsch revealed his displeasure with the process.
âMy respect for U.S. Soccer is big,âhe said. âBut I went through a process with them, right? And Iâm not going to go into it, but I wasnât treated very well in the process.
âAnd so, whatever man, thatâs in the past now. The minute it was done I was like, âOK, Iâm moving forward, and Iâm going to figure out whatâs right for me.â
âIt motivated me again to find the right people. And so now I just want to talk about Canada, because Iâm excited. I feel like itâs a fan base and a player pool and a nation that resonates with me. Iâve worked there before, I know a lot of the people involved.â
Marsch will lead Canada into the summer as they participate in Copa América 2024.
