Andrée Jeglertz says he’s relishing the opportunity to lead Manchester City Women as our new Head Coach.

The vastly experienced Swede arrives at the Club having enjoyed plenty of success over two decades in management, including a UEFA Women’s Champions League triumph with Umeå IK in 2004 and leading both Finland and Denmark to major international tournaments.

Jeglertz’s most recent position is as manager of the latter and he will arrive in Manchester following Euro 2025.

After all of those experiences, the 53-year-old says it’s a privilege to start a new chapter in his managerial career as City’s Head Coach.

“[I have] a lot of feelings. Mostly maybe honoured to be part of this big and great club but also excited to get started. I’m really looking forward to it,” he declared.

“The Club is one of the biggest in the world. But also, the way Therese [Sjogran] and Charlotte [O’Neill] are presenting the club, what does it stand for, what do you want from a coach and everything that’s connected to football.

“But there are a lot of things around the Club that makes me excited about the job.”

Jeglertz takes over at City tasked with improving on our fourth-placed Barclays Women’s Super League finish last term and restoring our place as title challengers in 2025/26.

Already encouraged by the ethos at the Club, our new Head Coach stressed his approach will be one of evolution rather than revolution when stating his immediate ambitions.

He added: “One of my key things is to come in and not try to change the world. It’s about continuing the job that’s been done and taking it to the next level.

“I’m excited to work with the people. Working with people who have the same motivation and ambitions as I have.

“And that is young players, but also older players. I think all female players in general are interested in becoming better and trying to find the next step.

“That of course excites me and also challenges me, because I need to find different ways and different players.

“And that’s definitely an interesting job I have.”
