Speaking to Téléfoot this morning, former Marseille striker and France legend Jean-Pierre Papin spoke about comparisons between Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé, and which attacker will end up having the best career.
The Frenchman said that “The results, the record, that’s what will make the difference.” Papin however admitted that “the fight between Haaland and Mbappé is going to be magnificent.”
Papin is currently a technical advisor at Olympique de Marseille, where he played between 1986 to 1992. He scored 134 goals in 215 appearances for the Olympiens, having also played for AC Milan, Bayern Munich, and Bordeaux.
Kylian Mbappé (23) will miss PSG’s home Champions League round of 16 tie against one of Papin’s former sides Bayern Munich on Tuesday injury due to a thigh injury that will keep him out for three weeks. Mbappé has scored 13 Ligue 1 goals in 19 appearances, whilst scoring seven in the Champions League and earning the golden boot at the World Cup with eight goals including a hat-rick during the final.
Meanwhile, Erling Haaland (20) has stormed the Premier League with 25 goals in 20 games for the citizens.
