Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas took to social media to dismiss reports of tensions with new owner John Textor as “science fiction.”

Les Gones are enduring a difficult season on the pitch, and during the recently concluded winter transfer window, the club struggled to recruit. Le Progrès reported in December that the club would have €57m at their disposal to strengthen the squad, however, Les Gones struggled in negotiations with clubs, and also found it difficult to convince the players themselves to join. Despite late deals for Amin Sarr and Jeffinho, nowhere near the reported €57m kitty was spent.

Rumours of friction between Aulas and Textor, who only recently bought the club have since surfaced. However, as he often does, Aulas has taken to social media to reject the reports. He also took the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment, as well as that of Textor to work towards the betterment of Lyon.

At this point, it’s no longer extrapolation, it’s science fiction. Luckily, we work with John with confidence on a daily basis for the best for OL. We are going to continue to construct together this project towards the future and the ‘winning mentality,” said Aulas on Twitter.
