Cameroon international and Nantes defender, Jean-Charles Castelletto, spoke in Cameroon’s press conference about the mindset needed for them to compete in the World Cup. The defender took inspiration from the country’s president, Paul Biya, who published a message in support of the team. The president urged the team to show a fighting spirit in the competition.

As transcribed by CFootmag, Castelletto stated that, “The message of our president is a great gesture. He has confidence in us. It is up to us to earn this belief from him and Cameroonians. We need a state of mind like in Blida.

When asked about Cameroon’s defensive concerns, the defender was clear that it would take the entire team to get the job done, “Together we all bring what we have to the team. Together we are always stronger. I hope that your concerns will be extinguished during these matches. We win and we lose together.”

Cameroon are in a very difficult group that includes Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia. Its first match is against a very in-form Swiss side who has several attacking weapons. One of which is Cameroon born, AS Monaco forward Breel Embolo. It will certainly take a collective defensive effort to compete in their group. However, Cameroon is a well managed and talented team.  Mbeumo.
