Sheffield United have begun to string together some good results together in the Championship and it has seen the Blades creep steadily towards the top end of the second tier table – and defender Jayden Bogle has told The Star that it could be down to the international breaks in-between club fixtures.

The right-back has been involved in three games for his team so far this campaign and looked solid at the weekend, as the Blades claimed another three points off Stoke City.

It was their second win in four league games and they’ll be determined to make that three in five come the game against Millwall on Tuesday night.

Quiz: Have Sheffield United ever been involved in these 18 scenarios?

Now, 21-year-old Bogle has claimed that a key factor in some good results may be the international break. During this time, when club football is put on hold, it allows some teams to hold extra training sessions for players not on duty for their country, as well as holding some intra-squad matches.

Bogle believes that these breaks have been beneficial to Sheffield United so far in their search for another promotion back to the Premier League and has told The Star: “It’s been good to get the extra time on the training ground.

“It’s given us the chance to keep building. We’ve got a massive squad, which is good, and everyone’s been playing their part.

“The breaks have given us time to keep bonding as a team.”

The bonding has worked too, as the club sealed an important win over promotion-battling Stoke at the weekend. After a week’s break, the Blades returned to action on Saturday and after initially falling behind thanks to a Jacob Brown goal, Slavisa Jokanovic’s side came back thanks to goals from Lys Mousset and David McGoldrick to wrap up the three points.

Bogle himself looked solid, as did the rest of his teammates and they’ll be determined to keep the good times rolling against Millwall in midweek – and if they can continue to gel and work together well as a unit, then they could soon be back in amongst the play-off places.

The Verdict

Sheffield United have begun to look more sharp and focused after a dodgy start to the season. They’ve finally started to put performances and results together and it’ll be vital that they get points on the board now before fitness starts to become an issue as the season goes on.

Jokanovic will have to get results quickly but it seems like the side are now beginning to understand each other and find that understanding with each other. If Jayden Bogle and the rest of the squad can keep consistent and continue to put in good showings like at the weekend – and not give up in games – then they could certainly be amongst the promotion contenders come the end of the season.
