Inter executive Javier Zanetti discussed Inter and music ahead of the Sanremo Festival when speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai 2 earlier today.

First, the Argentine touched on whether or not he would have liked to have been a singer.

“For sure. If my wife hears me… I would have been a romantic singer.”

The 46-year-old then discussed his performance with Italian musician Mina.

“I still can’t believe this privilege I’ve had. It was a great emotion, especially because Mina is a great Inter fan, but because we all know who Mina is, not only in Italy.”

Zanetti also dedicated four songs to four different people in his life.

“To my wife Paula I dedicate ‘More beautiful thing there is not’, to my children a Spanish song about their childhood and when they grow up. There’s always football in the middle. A song I used to sing on the pitch all the time? One that accompanied us all the way through Champions League that said that when you flipped a coin it would be what it would be. I always listened to it with Diego Milito. A song I dedicate to Inter? Pazza Inter.”

The Argentine executive also dedicated a song to coach Antonio Conte.

“To the Mister, I know the Negramaro are his friends, I dedicate the Negramaro’s songs to him.”

The 46-year-old spoke about the tension the day before Sanremo.

“I imagine the tension that Amadeus will have, we often see the matches together at the stadium. I think it’s a great possibility for him, he has to live in it spontaneously and simply. He has to be himself and if he does this, he will surely have a great success and I’m convinced that he will.”

Finally, Zanetti discussed the tactics needed to be successful at the festival.

“Right to an attack without thinking. It’s a game you have to win so you have to start strong right away. Amadeus, go on the attack like you know how to do. You’ll see, you’ll be very successful.”

The Sanremo Music Festival is an annual festival hosted in Italy. The competition usually attracts high numbers of viewers, with many Italian musicians hoping to win the prize. It served as the inspiration for the now famous Eurovision Song Contest.

Javier Zanetti is the vice-president of Inter. The Argentine made 615 league appearances for the Nerazzurri over 19 years.
