Chivas are set to breath a sigh of relief after Javier ‘Chofis’ López reportedly dropped his opposition to joining Pachuca on loan.
The 27-year-old had hoped to earn a reprieve at the Flock, having just returned from an 18-month loan spell at Major League Soccer side San Jose Earthquakes.
However the hierarchy at the Estadio Akron insisted that there was no way back from the off-field issue that saw him frozen out in late 2020.
And it is underdstood that manager Ricardo Cadena never had the attacker in his Apertura plans.
Journalist David Medrano claims that López has now accepted his time with Los Rojiblancos is at an end.
“Chofis López has understood that Pachuca is a good opportunity and the [Santiago] Ormeño case has been unlocked so that it reaches Chivas,” Medrano posted on Twitter.
With López now heading to Los Tuzos, the way is clear for Chivas to complete the loan signing of striker Ormeño from León.
The 28-year-old Peru international, who was born in Mexico City, has trained at Verde Valle this week but will not be available for Saturday’s trip to Santos Laguna.
