Jarrad Branthwaite signs new contract with Everton | OneFootball

Everton have confirmed that Jarrad Branthwaite has signed a new contract with the club.

His previous deal was set to expire in 2025 but he has now agreed fresh terms that will keep him at Goodison Park until 2027.

The 21-year-old was an unused substitute in Everton’s first two Premier League matches. But manager Sean Dyche has since started him in all the subsequent league matches.

The centre-back has posted impressive numbers in the English top-flight this campaign, averaging 2.2 tackles, 2.0 interceptions and 3.8 clearances per game. He also boasts an excellent 83.3 passing accuracy (as per whoscored).

Branthwaite was delighted to sign a new contract as he said in a statement to evertonfc.com: “The stature of the club, how much of a family it is at Everton and how I just love playing here in front of the fans were key reasons for me signing.

“To sign this new contract was to show the commitment I have for the club and show how much it means to me to play for Everton.

“Since I joined, I’ve felt a connection with the club. The fans have been really good with me. For the first game I played, the cheer I got when my name was read out just gave me massive confidence to go out there and play my best game.

“Since I got in the team, the fans have shown me real support and that gives me confidence, especially for a young player. I can’t thank them enough.”

Branthwaite joined the Merseyside club in January 2020 from League One side Carlisle United.

He made four appearances for the Toffees before heading to Blackburn Rovers for the second-half of the 2020-21 season.

The 21-year-old didn’t find a lot of first-team opportunities at Goodison the following campaign, making only eight appearances across all competitions.

He spent the entire 2022-23 season at Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, where he played in 37 matches and registered four goals.

Branthwaite has shown great progress this season and fans will hope he continues his form over the coming months.

Everton have been struggling so far in the Premier League, winning only one of their seven matches to be 16th in the standings.
