Japanese international midfielder Takarada to join Leicester City | OneFootball

Leicester City have agreed to sign Japanese international midfielder Saori Takarada in the January transfer window.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Foxes this afternoon.

Takarada will officially join Leicester City when the transfer window re-opens on 1 January 2024. The player has most recently been playing her football in the Swedish top flight with Linköpings FC. Takarada has also represented Cerezo Osaka Sakai and Washington Spirit in her club career to date.

On the international stage, Takarada has been capped on 20 occasions for Japan while she has scored one goal. The 23-year-old has found herself on the fringes of the Japanese squad in recent times but she will be aiming to boost her international hopes at Leicester City.

After joining The Foxes, Takarada said “I’m very happy. It’s amazing. I’ve always wanted to play in England so there’s lots of excitement to be playing here in this stadium and with this team.

“I’ve also spoken to Shinji Okazaki and he told me that it’s a very good Club here at Leicester and he hopes to see me have a good experience like he did.”

Takarada is Leicester City’s first signing in the upcoming transfer window.
