Jakub Jankto has insisted that the Czech Republic fear nobody ahead of the big kick-off in Euro 2020 next week.

The 25-year-old midfielder spoke to us ahead of his departure for the Czech Republic camp – and stressed how much representing his country means to him.

“Representing the national team is an honour,” said the Samp midfielder. “It’s a dream come true for any kid. Playing in a European Championship or World Cup is massive for the fans and for your country. You have to give your all.”

The tournament has been a long time coming, but Jankto believes that the Czech Republic will be able to hold their own once the ball starts rolling.

“The tournament lasts around three months, so it’s important to manage the energy levels well,” he said. “We’re up against England, Scotland and Croatia in the group – they’re all difficult opponents, but we can beat anyone. We’ve already shown that in qualifying, when we beat the English. Anything can happen in these tournaments – just look at Greece in 2004. Our aim is to win.”
