Having joined the U17s of 1. FFC Frankfurt as a 16-year-old, Swabia-born Hechler has blossomed into one of head coach Niko Arnautis’ key players and is set to make her 100th Bundesliga appearance. In the league and cup this season, the versatile defender has registered nine outings for an Eintracht side who currently boast the fourth-best defensive record in the top flight.

Sporting director Siegfried Dietrich said: “I’m very pleased that Janina Hechler, who is such a versatile defender and who has felt at home in Frankfurt for seven years, has extended her contract and will continue to accompany us on our journey together.”

“It’s an unbelievable amount of fun to play in this team,” added Hechler. “We’ll give everything in our final few games of the season to achieve our main goal of playing European football.”
