Last night Atlético Madrid suffered a 3-1 defeat after extra time against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

In his post-match interview that appeared on AS, Jan Oblak argued that they should have played better in the second half:

“We had a good first half, the second half not so good. They upped the tempo, they tied us and in the end, nothing. We were down to ten men and it was even more difficult. In general we had chances and we played a good game. Savić’s red card punished us, but that’s football. Unfortunately we lost.

The Slovenian keeper believes that Real Madrid should have had a red card:

“I think that if it was a red card for us, it should have been for them. At 1-0 they could also have received a second yellow. We are used to this. It’s complicated. The team fought until the end. We did everything, and in the end they scored the third. We fought against everyone.”

Atlético Madrid play Osasuna on the weekend in La Liga.
