Leicester City have confirmed captain Jamie Vardy has signed a new one-year deal at the club.
The news will come as a major boost to everyone associated with the club given Vardy’s iconic status, as well as the departure of manager Enzo Maresca to Chelsea last week.
The 37-year-old, who scored 20 goals last season as the Foxes made an immediate return to the Premier League, has become synonymous with the club since his arrival from Fleetwood Town in 2012.
He has since gone onto make 464 appearances, scoring 190 goals and famously winning the Premier League (2016) and the FA Cup (2021) with the club, as well as two Championship titles 10 years apart in 2014 and 2024.
Speaking on his decision to sign on for another year, the Foxes legend said: “To get the numbers that I did [last season], I’m delighted with it, but there’s still more to come. I look after myself. I’ve always said that age is just a number.”
Vardy will now prepare to lead his side back into the top-flight with the season due to kick off on August 17th.
