Jamie O’Hara Urges Manchester City To Move In For This Chelsea Forward: Right Choice For Pep? | OneFootball

In a recent segment of talkSPORT‘s Breakfast, former Premier League midfielder Jamie O’Hara urged Manchester City to move in for Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham this summer. O’Hara said,

“He’s (Abraham) a young enough player and with Pep Guardiola’s coaching ability and the teammates around him… he’s a top player.

“The season he had at Aston Villa and then he went back to Chelsea and did very well. He’s a handful, his pace, he looks to stretch the lines, he’s a finisher.

“No player’s perfect, especially at 22 or 23, but there’s a lot of growth there with Tammy.

“He’d be someone I’d be very interested to see at Manchester City.”

Abraham’s Difficult Spell Under Thomas Tuchel Last Season

Abraham began the last Premier League campaign quite well but had to endure a difficult second half to the season as he struggled to impress under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel. The 23-year-old found the back of the net on 12 occasions and provided six assists in 32 matches for the West London club last season in all competitions.

The London-born marksman got a lot of his playing minutes off the bench which explains why he could only average 1.5 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per game in Premier League football. The Blues frontman needs to be more accurate with his ball distribution after completing just 72.7% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Is Abraham The Right Choice For Man City?

Abraham can his strong and athletic frame to dominate the opposition centre-backs physically and is proficient at making some clever runs in behind them on the counter. When the English centre-forward is firing on all cylinders, he can be a decent goal-scorer in the final third. However, the goals have dried up for Abraham in this calendar year, so it’s difficult to see a way back for him under Tuchel’s stewardship next season.

The English goal-getter will undoubtedly love to join Man City this summer if Pep Guardiola decides to listen to O’Hara’s advice by sealing a move for him ahead of the new campaign. He will add a handful of goals and some much-needed physicality to Guardiola’s frontline.

At 23, the future is still quite bright for Abraham, so he will be a good, long-term choice for Guardiola to consider in this off-season. However, the Premier League champions will be better off putting all their attention on signing someone like Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur as he would be a far better option for them in the short term.
