Spurs’ Under-21s currently sit top of the Premier League 2 and are yet to taste defeat in the league this season.

The academy side’s latest win came at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday as they thrashed Fleetwood Town’s Under-21s 6-0.

Will Lankshear starred on the day as he netted a quickfire hat-trick in the first half.

Jamie Donley, who made his first-team debut at Manchester City back in December, feels Lankshear is ready to make the step up to senior football.

Donley says Lankshear is ‘good enough’ to play for Tottenham

Speaking to Football.London following Lankshear’s impressive display on Saturday, Donley was asked whether his academy teammate is ready for the jump to senior football.

“Yes, definitely,” Donley said. “He’s got a great attitude and he’s a great lad. He just keeps scoring goals and he’s doing really well.

“I was doing really well and I got my chance so he’s just got to keep his head down, working hard and I think he’s definitely good enough so he’ll get a chance hopefully.”

Lankshear has been in exceptional form in front of goal this season as he’s netted 13 times in 14 appearances for the U21s.

The Englishman made the switch to north London from Sheffield United back in the summer of 2022 but is yet to make his debut for the club.

Given the fact that the likes of Dane Scarlett and Alejo Veliz have been handed minutes this term, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Lankshear get an opportunity. Ange Postecoglou has already shown he is willing to give younger players a chance provided they are ready.
