Jamie Carragher trolls Peter Schmeichel with one question

Jamie Carragher brought up the past to troll Peter Schmeichel in the CBS studio last night.

We don’t mind seeing Schmeichel trolled at all, actually. He is arguably the best goalkeeper to have played for Manchester United, but we won’t be forgetting his cartwheel celebration while playing for Man City.

The Dane won everything on offer whilst playing for United, though, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his team-mate.

Solskjaer was dismissed from his job as manager on Sunday morning after United’s 4-1 defeat against Watford. Now Michael Carrick is standing in until the club finds a replacement.

Former United keeper Schmeichel was asked by fellow pundit Micah Richards if he would do the same as Solskjaer and jump in to save his club.

“I would do anything for that club,” he said on CBS. “I would. Of course I would, I would help them out in any way I could.

But Carragher couldn’t let Schmeichel go on about his loyalty for United without mentioning the big elephant in the room.

“You signed for Man City didn’t you?” Carragher said in the CBS studio.

Schmeichel couldn’t help but nibble back, saying: “You know what’s really, really interested, after Jurgen Klopp has won one Premier League, all of a sudden you’re all the way up here, sat up there looking down at us.”

Schmeichel signed for United’s rivals City in 2002 on a free transfer, but only played for one season before retiring at the end of the campaign.

It’s a bitter pill to swallow and I know a number of United fans that will never forgive Schmeichel for his behaviour after making the move to City.

They certainly don’t want him as manager now!
