Jamie Carr gears up for Atlantic Ocean boat challenge | OneFootball

In just under four months Manchester City’s Academy Coach, Jamie Carr, will be undertaking the second challenge of his Nothing Ventured Campaign.

In December, Jamie is undertaking a solo row across the Atlantic Ocean.

As part of this challenge, Jamie will spend up to three months on his own rowing the world’s toughest ocean as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge.

Going solo, he will cover more than 3,000 miles from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean rowing up to 18 hours a day.

More people have travelled into space than rowed an ocean solo, with Jamie having never rowed prior to his challenge.

At any one time, the nearest person to Jamie could be on a satellite space station, showcasing how extreme this challenge is.

To mark the four-month countdown until Jamie sets sail, CITC is releasing a special three-part series that takes people onboard the boat which Jamie will call home for up to three months.

Keep an eye out across City in the Community social media channels for future episodes of Jamie’s boat tour.

Every penny raised from the venture is going towards the Club’s charity, City in the Community and Cancer Fund for Children in Jamie's native Ireland.

CITC’s portion will support a mental health programme, City Thrive, supporting people in Manchester under the age of 25.

As part of his challenge, Jamie has previously completed the Marathon Des Sables which consisted of running six ultramarathons in six days across the Sahara Desert.
