James Trafford set to return to Man City

James Trafford is set to return to Manchester City after two seasons with Burnley despite interest from Newcastle United.

The goalkeeper came through the ranks at City before leaving for the Clarets in the summer of 2023. During his time with Burnley the England youth international played 73 games in total with last season a particular highlight in which he conceded just 16 goals in 45 Championship games.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Citizens have agreed on a transfer fee with Burnley which is just under the £40 million buy-back clause that City already had.

Trafford's move to City will raise doubts about the future of goalkeepers Ederson and Stefan Ortega with both players being linked with moves away from the club.
