The Clarets earned a top two spot in the Championship table with a 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Monday evening.

A brace from Josh Brownhill in the first half proved enough to seal a crucial three points, despite Tom Cannonโ€™s 37th minute strike for Chris Wilderโ€™s side.

The gap to third is now eight points with only two games remaining, officially confirming automatic promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Trafford has celebrated the clubโ€™s promotion to the Premier League with a new post on his personal Instagram account.

The goalkeeper has been a crucial part of the teamโ€™s success this season under Scott Parker, only conceding 15 times from 44 appearances.

โ€œWe did it,โ€ wrote Trafford, via Instagram.

The 22-year-oldโ€™s future at Turf Moor has been the subject of intense speculation ever since the clubโ€™s relegation from the Premier League last season.

It was reported by Fabrizio Romano in February of this year that personal terms agreed last summer with Newcastle United remain in place going into the upcoming transfer window.

Football Insider claimed earlier this month that the Magpies will look to make a deal even with Burnley earning promotion.

Burnley recent form

Burnley sealed promotion with a run of six wins in their last seven league fixtures, only dropping points away to Derby County.

Parkerโ€™s side are unbeaten in their last 31 league fixtures in total, last suffering defeat away to Millwall on 3 November.

The Clarets are also still in contention for the Championship title, level on points with leaders Leeds United with just two games remaining.

Next up for Burnley is a trip to face QPR on 26 April.

Focus will now turn to Traffordโ€™s future

Sorting out Traffordโ€™s future is something Burnley can now give their attention to with promotion secured.

The goalkeeper has been a standout talent in the side, playing as important a role in their top two finish as anyone in the squad.

But promotion might not be enough to convince him to stay if Newcastle are willing to offer him the role of first-choice goalkeeper in Eddie Howeโ€™s team.

It will likely take a sizable offer, perhaps in the region of ยฃ30 million, but a sale is definitely still on the cards even with this top two finish, and his departure would come as a blow to the club.
