Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that, should James Trafford leave Burnley today, the Clarets could turn their attention to Antwerp’s Jean Butez. The sides number one for many years has been replaced this season by Senne Lammens as the club have expected that Butez will be leaving this summer. However, with the window running down, a move for the 29-year-old has yet to materialise. Lens are interested and have an agreement with Butez in place, but that is dependent on Brice Samba’s future. Tavolieri is reporting that Samba looks set to stay with the club.

Since joining Antwerp in 2020 the Frenchman had been the sides undisputed number one. He was a key factor in their first title win since the 1950s and was ranked as one of the best goalkeepers in the Pro League. While his contract runs until 2026, Antwerp are looking to refresh the squad and move on from their higher earners in order to save money. Butez is one that they have been happy to see move on this summer, with the younger Lammens having shown he is a capable replacement. Transfermarkt values Butez at around €8m, but Burnley are likely able to negotiate a fee under this given that Antwerp are keen to sell this summer.
