Rangers captain James Tavernier has insisted that his focus is on winning trophies with the Ibrox giants despite being linked with a return to English football.
Former club Newcastle and Brighton are believed to be keen on signing the 27-year-old this summer, but the right-back has claimed that his only thought is getting his hands on some silverware for Steven Gerrard’s side this term.
“Rangers gave me a chance. The club have shown faith in me. I have been trying to repay that favour ever since which means working harder, getting better and better,” he told The Scotsman.
“It’s a compliment to be linked to other clubs. I see it. But all my emphasis is on Rangers. Things can happen in football, of course, but I’m looking forward to this season.
“It’s all speculation. If it stays like that then I don’t get upset about it. I’m fully focused on the job here.
“I love my football here, my family is settled, I’m in a great place at the moment. Whatever happens, happens. I’m just focusing on Rangers.”
