James Rodríguez has sounded off on Real Madrid, claiming they blocked a move to a fellow LaLiga side, presumably Atlético Madrid.

The 28-year-old, who believes he is in the best physical shape of his career, admitted that he is focusing on his future and heading to whichever club he can showcase his talents most.

“They didn’t let me go to the club I wanted to go to. They wanted me to go to another team,” James Rodríguez confessed in his interview with Gol Caracol.

“There was a very good proposal from a Spanish team, I would not like to say the name of the team, which Madrid rejected.

“I started pre-season with Madrid without wanting to. I also had an offer from Italy but it didn’t convince me.

“My agent Jorge Mendes told me Real Madrid had an offer from China, but I wasn’t ready to go there because I feel I can give a lot more in Europe.

“Honestly, they didn’t let me go to the club I wanted to play for. They wanted me to go to another team. ”

When asked why he hasn’t played more often: “It’s a good question, I’d like to know too,” Rodriguez said.

“As I’ve said before, when you win trophies with players you trust and you have a settled team, it’s difficult to change.

“It’s also complicated when your coach doesn’t give you minutes. It’s hard to show what you can do.”

“There hasn’t been any kind of problem [with Zidane]. “Each coach has his preferences. We have a normal working relationship… I’m not one of the key players, that’s clear.

“I’m training and working so that when it’s my turn, I do well.”

James also revealed that he was the one who made sure his Bayern loan did not become permanent.

“Bayern is a top club, but the one who did not want to continue was me. They wanted to activate the purchase option, but I spoke with a leader so that they did not do it because I was not comfortable and I was not happy.

“When that happens in your life you have to make decisions, they understood it perfectly. At that time my decision was that and I do not regret it. ”
