James McFadden has raved about Celtic striker Adam Idah after the match against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Scottish Premiership club Celtic suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Premier League outfit Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Morgan Rogers was the star of the show in the League Stage game, as the Villa ace scored a hat-trick.
It was a disappointing evening for Celtic, but Idah stood out for the visiting team.
The 23-year-old striker scored two goals, first in the 36th minute and then on 38 minutes.
For his first goal, Idah hooked in from close range, and his second came after he pounced on Reo Hatate’s pass.
Former Scotland international forward McFadden was following the match, and the BBC Sport pundit was impressed with Idah, saying that the Republic of Ireland international is now the first-choice striker for the Hoops.
McFadden said about Idah on BBC Sportsound: “Celtic will look to sign someone, but at this point in time, Adam Idah is the first-choice striker for Celtic.
“He’s taken his chance tonight with the two goals. He can be happy with his night’s work.”
Idah joined Celtic on loan from Norwich City in February 2024. The Hoops signed the striker on a permanent contract in the summer of 2024.
The 23-year-old has made 10 starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic so far this season. Idah has scored five goals in those games.
The young striker has scored three goals in two starts and six substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for the Hoops this campaign.
Idah should be pleased with himself for his two goals against Villa and should be confident of staying in the team for a long time.
Celtic will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Motherwell away from home in the Scottish Premiership before facing Dundee at Celtic Park in the league.
