Leicester City fans will have to wait a while longer to see James Justin back in action as the 23-year-old has suffered another injury setback.

Justin hasn’t played since damaging his ACL in February and Brendan Rodgers has revealed he’ll likely have to wait until 2022 to step back on the pitch again.

Rodgers also said that centre-back Wesley Fofana will also have to wait until the new year.

“He was ahead of where he was going to be, then he trained with the group and for a few weeks there he was looking very good, and we were looking to get him into an Under-23s game,” Rodgers said.

“But he’s had a slight reaction to that, which has put him back. It’s not for too long, I would say in the next five to six days he will rejoin the squad.

“We just have to make sure after a long time out that, as much as we want him back, he’s ready to be back, and then we’ll get him playing step by step.

“Certainly when he does come back, and from what we saw from the few weeks he was back in training, he’s going to be brilliant.

“(Fofana) is working very well. We’re just cautious around that. He’s done so well and worked so hard. We’ll see where he’s at come the beginning of the new year.”

Leicester will hit the road to take on Southampton on Wednesday.
