The international break wraps up on a frustrating note for both Jamaica and Mexico though the Reggae Boyz will be the happier of the two sides after their match at National Stadium Independence Park.

It was the hosts who had themselves on top first when Leon Bailey’s looping header found the net just before the five-minute mark. Then with Mexico caught off guard, Jamaica almost doubled their lead minutes later but fell short.

Yet as time went on it was the visitors who dominated the pitch maintaining higher possession numbers and testing their opponents on multiple occasions.

Their golden opportunity then arrived just before the break when Luis Romo equalised with a header of his own to make things 1-1.

Coming out into the second half, however, Mexico again found themselves on their heels and Jamaica almost added a second only to see Romo rise to the occasion on the defensive side of things when he cleared the ball off the line.

The match continued to be a nervy affair and Mexico brought on the likes of Diego Lainez, and Henry Martín but their finishing touch couldn’t beat an alert Andre Blake for a late winner.

The result means Jamaica sit top of League A Group A while Mexico are second.
