Jake Mulraney has completed a trade from Atlanta United to rivals Orlando City, the clubs announced Thursday.

The Irish winger ends a two-and-half-year association with the Five Stripes, during which he scored three goals and assisted another five in 55 appearances across all competitions, often coming up with some big moments from the bench - including scoring a 96th-minute winner against Charlotte FC earlier this season.

Orlando City have paid $200,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for Mulraney's services - $100,000 in 2022 and $100,000 in 2023 - with another $75,000 GAM payable should the player meet certain performance-based metrics. Atlanta United will also retain a percentage of any future transfer fee for Mulraney, while the two clubs will share his 2022 budget charge.

“Jake has been a great teammate and positive influence around the club and community since he joined the club in 2020,” Atlanta United vice president and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said of the former Hearts and Inverness winger. “When called upon, he’s been a reliable player and we want to thank him for his contributions to the club and wish him the best of luck in his future.”

Mulraney will add depth and proven MLS quality to Orlando City's forward line, which already features the likes of Alexandre Pato, Facundo Torres, Ercan Kara, and Benji Michel. With the Lions battling hard at the top of the Eastern Conference, Mulraney could prove himself a valuable roster member as the schedule condenses later in the year.

“Bringing Jake to Orlando is a move that we’re excited about,” Orlando executive vice president of soccer operations and general manager Luiz Muzzi said in a club press release. “We think his on-field abilities and his style of play will really compliment the team we have and we’re happy to have him in purple.”

Following a 2-1 win over Charlotte FC, Orlando City travel to CF Montreal this Saturday.
