Marti Cifuentes has revitalised QPR since arriving as manager last October. But he will be looking to build a squad in his image ahead of his first full season in charge of the west London outfit.

QPR have been mired by financial constraints and will need to sell before they buy this summer.

Defender Jake Clarke-Salter has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks and his departure could help fund QPR's forays into the market.

Decisions also need to be made before the end of the month on the futures of Chris Willock and Asmir Begovic.

Neither player appeared on QPR's retained list, but the club are still hopeful of negotiating new deals for the pair.

Willock has been an integral part of QPR's midfield, providing goals and assists in the absence of a prolific frontline.

Begovic, on the other hand, kept 13 clean sheets last season, as QPR's defence played a vital role in securing safety.

The Bosnian is turning 37 on the 20th of June, though, and a decision needs to be made about his long-term future.

With this in mind, here are three R's issues that the club will need to sort before August 30th when the transfer window slams shut...

Clarke-Salter attracting Premier League interest

Despite QPR finishing just six points clear of the relegation zone, they recorded the eighth-best defensive record in the Championship last season, conceding just 57 goals.

Clarke-Salter was a key part of QPR's defence, forming a solid partnership with Steve Cook.

The former Chelsea academy graduate has struggled with injuries in recent years, but after a strong end to the season, he has begun to attract interest from Premier League clubs.

Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old, who is said to cost between £5-£7m. Whilst Scottish champions Celtic have also been touted with interest.

Clarke-Salter would be a huge loss for QPR but the potential funds his sale could raise would give Cifuentes plenty of budget to work with this summer.

QPR want to tie down Willock to new contract

Willock has been a crucial component of QPR's midfield ever since he arrived in west London in 2020.

The former Arsenal academy graduate is one of QPR's few matchwinners and losing him on a free this summer could prove devastating.

The 26-year-old has been one of Cifuentes's most trusted individuals and QPR will be hopeful of negotiating a new contract with him.

Willock has attracted interest from several Championship clubs, including Sunderland, and he has options should he opt to leave QPR this summer.

Tying down Willock to a new contract ahead of next season is a priority for QPR and a decision needs to be made by the end of June.

Begovic future is up in the air

QPR had one of the strongest defensive records in the Championship last season thanks in no small part to Begovic.

But with the Bosnian approaching the latter stages of his career and high-profile mistakes marring an otherwise excellent season, there is cause to suggest Begovic should be let go.

Begovic is the highest earner at the club, according to Capology, and offloading his wages could prove vital as Cifuentes looks to rebuild ahead of next season.

QPR remain keen to secure a new deal for Begovic, but a decision needs to be made before the end of June with Cifuentes acutely aware of how important a strong defence is to QPR's success next season.

QPR are in the midst of a transition as they try to build something substantial under Cifuentes and key decisions need to be made over the futures of several first-team players before they can dip their toes into the transfer market.
