Jairo Torres is out for the remainder of Chicago Fire’s 2022 campaign after undergoing a successful surgical procedure to stabilize a left tibia stress fracture.
He will miss just two regular-season games, as the Fire have been eliminated from postseason contention.
The player is expected to make a full recovery prior to the start of the 2023 Major League Soccer season.
Torres first arrived to the Fire in May, joining from back-to-back champions Atlas FC. He signed as one of Chicago’s three Designated Players, alongside midfielders Xherdan Shaqiri and Gaston Gimenez.
The player has seen a difficult start to his MLS journey, recording no goals and just one assist across 14 games before picking up the injury.
