Today, July 7, on his 39th birthday, we celebrate one of the people who has contributed to the great legacy and history of Guadalajara. Jair 'El Comandante' Pereira left an indelible mark on the club's recent history, not only for his dedication and passion on the field, but also for the leadership and commitment he showed from his early days as a Rojiblanco.
On August 3, 2011, Jair made his debut in the First Division, taking the first step in a career built on effort, dedication, and perseverance, which would later lead him to experience unforgettable moments.
Pereira joined Chivas for the 2014 Clausura and defended the colors of the Rebaño Sagrado for 11 tournaments. During that period, he established himself as a key player in defense and won the affection of the fans for his total commitment in every game. 'El Comandante' was a pillar in the central defense of the team led by Matías Almeyda, with whom he won five titles:
• Copa MX (Apertura 2015 and Clausura 2017) • Supercopa MX (2016) • Liga MX (Clausura 2017) • Concacaf Champions League (2018)
One of his most memorable moments came in the 2017 Clausura Final against Tigres, where he was part of the Rebaño's starting eleven and put in an outstanding performance, defending every play with his heart and soul to win the championship.
